For Nike's holiday 2013 launch of the Fuelband SE, we created immersive experiences at the New York and Las Vegas stores.
Derived from the product form, large arcs with animated messages created tunnel canopies. Digital kiosks ran attract reels, and long tables with demo stations offered in-depth experiences with the product.
This initiative rollled out to all Nike North America stores. Shown here are pinnacle executions from Nike New York and Las Vegas.
Nike China's brand team came to us for a branding and launch kit design for new store openings in the region. The kit started with the fundamentals: naming, branding, key pattern assets, typography guidelines; and collateral, out-of-home, and digital applications. The regional team decided on gold as the key color to represent Nike as a premium brand to the local audience. The guidelines were formulated into an updatable binder format which went into a larger celebratory kit to be issued at launch. The kit included t-shirt designs, sticker packs, cloissoné pins, printed ribbon, and comparative gold scissors for the opening ceremony. As design lead, I guided the design strategy, provided directed the design team, and served as client-facing design representation.
Nike’s Air Manufacturing Innovation center (also known as AirMI) adjacent to their world headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon is a hub of technological creativity. The environmental design for the offices on the second floor above the manufacturing facility served to inspire and honor the groundbreaking work by this team.
A few highlights of the design include showcasing the over 500 patents generated by the group, and artfully repurposing worn out manufacturing mold forms to create a coffee table, while also celebrating their impact on pop culture and streetwear fashion.
Design team included Derek Price and Parker Oubre. Creative director: Jason Bacon.
Facing guests as they enter the building is a slat wall with “Let There Be Light” laser-engraved onto it. The quote is pulled from an iconic AirMax poster from the 1980s. Blue and red colors on the sides of the slats reference the first AirMax colors. In the spirit of breaking boundaries, the quote runs from the slat wall onto the windows adjacent.
Congratulating the team as they pass through, the hallway wallpaper is comprised of US patents of the over 500 inventions that have come from the work of this group. There is room left for additional patent prints to be added to the wall over time.

As lead visual display designer on Nike Soho, I was part of a broader team of architectural and brand designers bringing Nike's 5-story store to launch. As a new architectural build, the project spanned 2 years, from initial concepting through completion. My role was to lead the permanent art and trialling moments, integrating varying strategic objectives into a holistic experience to set a new level of brand experience for Nike.
In July 2015 we proudly reopened Nike's downtown Seattle store after a complete gut and remodel. The visual display design was an expression of Nike heritage and innovation, as well as a tribute to the local sport culture.
We created a 12' x 18' neon tribute to Seattle to hang on the mezzanine ceiling, with impactful views from the exterior of the store as well as the interior.
February 2016 brought a refresh to Nike's San Francisco store, including a two-story "Just Do It", men's and women's trial run areas, SF Giants tribute, and Nike SB, and Jordan updates.
Nike's evergreen brand statement, Just Do It, applied big and bold in tonal varnish to the existing concrete wall, greets visitors as they enter the store.
For the launch of their Rookie shoe and collector's signature pack, Nike teamed up with basketball legend Penny Hardaway and Sole Collector. The event, held at the Las Vegas Nike store, drew sneakerheads from around the world. We designed the event space within the store, creating original "Penny" artwork which was printed at mural size on panels made of actual pennies. We also created curated displays of Hardaway memorabilia from Nike's DNA archives, as well as supporting event materials such as posters and invites. Designed in collaboration with Aaron Belchere.
As Nike's brand design at retail changed from Heritage to Modern Sport design language, we brought a locally relevant update to Nike's Chicago store.
To convert 'consumers' to participants, we literally invited people to "run with us" by creating trial areas on the men's and women's floors.
We collaborated with local artists Jim Bachor and Cody Hudson to bring two distinctly Chicago tributes to sport.
In the Nike SB space, we commissioned art by James Jarvis for a wall mural comprised of skate decks.
This major US center for Nike logistics innovation was designed to craft, test, and refine new ideas of working before scaling them to the broader distribution network. We designed visual brand stories to bring energy, inspire, and educate employees—from veterans to new hires. The design encompassed the reception area and security gates, basketball court and locker area, conference rooms, cafe, wellness center, gymnasium, office areas, and warehouse outbuildings.
Designed while at Big-Giant. Design team included: Nathan Stang, Mary Hare, Kyle Allen, and Parker Ouobre. Creative director: Jason Bacon.

In addition to a full rollout at all Nike doors, we designed pinnacle experiences for the Nike Elite launch in New York and Las Vegas. The windows and initiative zones in stores communicated the key differentiations in the three footwear lines—Speed, Power, and Strength—each designed for a specific style of play.
We also created the motion graphics reel to show in windows and on the back wall at the New York store.
